Starbucks Phantom
Starbucks was designing a completely new type of espresso machine that moved all the mechanisms under the counter. They came to us to develop a field ready unit for an in store trial.

My team started with a rough sketch and cardboard mockup from store design. From there they interpreted the inputs, refining and improving the design. Every detail was examined and reexamined to maintain design intent, optimize barista workflow, and ensure the unit would still look good after years of heavy use.
Hit me with your best shot
One issue with the cardboard mockup was that spacing and geometry on the shot glasses made it difficult to pour into a espresso cup. We looked at a variety solutions to improve the pour. Ultimately we increased the height of the glasses allowing them to get skinnier and closer together.
